Black Dragon equipment guide
=========Black Dragon Equipment + Power of Flame,Frost,Thunder,Wind + Angelic Dice========
NOTE: Black Dragon Equipment has already existed in 1.32, so does the Black Dragon lair. I'm introducing this because of the Black Dragon unlocking items you're able to obtain in 1.33
To use these items, you must first own a Black Dragon Altar
Black Dragon Altar is obtained after you defeat Black Dragon. Upon using Dragon key to Black Dragon Lair 3, open the Black Dragon Chest to obtain.
Dragon key required to open Black Dragon chest and going to Black Dragon Lair 3
This will be the the original status of the Altar when you first got it

Black Dragon Gems
Upon defeat of the Black Dragon, it may drop you the following Gems :

Cursed Point will affect the power of your Black Dragon Altar, the lesser the curse point is, the better Black Dragon Equipment you'll get
Curse Rate for each point
Torso : Def - 2, Physical Resist - 1, Max HP -5, HP Recovery Rate -1
Wings : Def - 1, Dodge -1, Max Sp -5, Sp Recovery rate -0.5, Movement speed - 2
Claw : Def - 1, Hit rate -2, Max Attack - 1, Min Attack - 1, Berserk(Crit) -0.5
As you can see, the Cursed Point is 2
To remove Cursed Point, we use Angelic Dice
However, Angelic Dice does not have a 100% successful rate of removing 1 Cursed Point
When it is successful, you'll see this :

Unlocking the Altar
To unlock the Altar, see the Seal of Wind, Seal of Flame, Seal of Thunder, Seal of Frost?
Use the Power of Wind, Flame, Thunder, Frost to lower the seal value.
When all 4 of them reach 0, you'll be able to double click on the black dragon altar to obtain the piece depending on your Sacrificial Item.
When your Cursed Point is over 9, you'll not be allowed to open your altar even if all your Seal is at 0.

As I said earlier, Cursed Points will affect how good your black dragon equipment is, at a Cursed Point of 6 we'll get the following :

Anti Lagg Guide (setting Process Priority)

This is most likely the most easy and best way to reduce lagg. Follow this 6 Steps to Easily remove/reduce the lagg while playing TOP.
1. Open Task Manager by Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del or Ctrl+SHIFT+Esc.

Ok, I've been playing for quite some time now and only just started a Ami Herbalist, my only problem is I can't seem to find any decent info on the caps in the game. I've searched the forums, looked through the encyclopedia and after spending far too much time killing monsters only to find out the cap I was after was for explorers, I feel we should try to gather info on the caps.
All I'm asking is for some help on identifying what cap is for which class, I think I've got it all right, but if you spot any problems or know of any I've missed then let me know and I can edit it. Also, I'd love it if we could confirm all of these too.

Newbie Starting Point Guide
Hello everyone, I have made this guide in order to help narrow down the posts relating to the same thing over, and over. . Although I know people won't always rely on this guide, but it might lower some posts.
Section 1: Character Related
1.1) What do I do with my character?! I just started! Please help me!
We have many guides for this, with many different set up's.
If this is your first time playing, I suggest you just try to enjoy it instead of taking it so seriously. If you're really trying to figure out what to do, please read the guides, then make a post of which IS NOT answered in any of the guides.

1.2) Where do I go to level?!
Their's guides of this in the "Guides INDEX" as well - Go here
The third section of the post will refer you to "Monsters." When choosing your EXP monster's, keep in mind, you cannot get maximum EXP amount from monster's FOUR levels BELOW you, or NINE level's ABOVE you.
1.3) What's the black text next to people's names?
This is what people set just because they can. . It's a 'status' or random thing I suppose. . Click your ALT+F "Friends List" and on the bottom, their's a paper with pencil icon. . Click it, and it will bring up a box which will let you type something. You can't use spaces ! !
1.4) I have my weapons equipped, but I can't attack anything!
This is because, you don't really have weapons .. it's all part of your imagination. . . I kid, this is because you may have died a lot, and didn't realize it, but your gear is based on it's Durability, when you die, you lose Durability, for Weapons, when they hit 0 Durability, you won't attack, for armor's, You will lose their defense and bonus stats. To fix these is easy, just go to any Blacksmith located in Argent / Icicle / Shaitan city, click the "Repair" and use that pounding hammer to fix your gear.
1.5) Can I make my character so and so class?
Unfortunately, characters are limited to the jobs they can become
Lance - Crusader, Sharpshooter, Voyager
Carsise - Champion
Phyllis - Sharpshooter, Cleric, Voyager, Seal Master
Ami - Cleric, Voyager, Seal Master
Section 2: Item Related
2.1) Why can't I use my newbie box?!
The newbie box everyone has, works in stages.
Box 1: Lv5
Box2: Lv10 (Only can be used AFTER you obtain first class promotion.)
Box3: Lv15
Box4: Lv20
Box5: Lv25
Box6: Lv30
Box7: Lv35 (Many people have diffulculty with this, try to use this BETWEEN Lv's 35-40, when you complete your second promotion at Lv40, you WILL NOT be able to use it, and you'll have to delete it, wasting next advancement equipment)
Box8: Lv40 (This is your last and FINAL box, you will get on your character. It can only be used after you complete your second promotion, suggest you do it as soon as you receive the message you've been promoted.)
That is all for boxes, your game's not broken, your newbie box hasn't been stolen. It is time for you to learn the rest on your own.
2.2) How much does "insert name of item" sell for?
It really can't be answered by just anyone. Why? All servers run on what's called an 'economy'. . This is a price range specified to THAT server only.
In most cases item's will be easier just to sell to an NPC, but if you feel this item is worth something important to someone, use the forums specific server channel or Marketplace;
- Select your server, and feel free to post a sell/buy/trade or even a price check topic, and someone will be able to help you out there better.
If you don't feel like waiting, you can always use the World/Trade chat option on your game and someone can answer you there.
2.3) I found a glitched item from a Lv34 Berserk Boxeroo!
Is it really glitched ? Nah, but it is cool to look at. If it looks like a red boxing glove, but has a bunch of squiggly lines on it. It's simply an item that was not translated from the Chinese version to the English version. It's not an important item, you are free to sell it to an NPC unless you just want to keep it for a trophy item.
2.4) Why can't I get rid of this item?!
Their's many items in the game that after we pass a certain point, will not be able to drop, trade, sell, or feel we can't get rid of this thing at all, but do not fear. . Hit ALT+E to open your inventory, on the bottom right corner, you will see a little blue icon, this is your characters 'trashcan'. It will permanently get rid of any items you don't feel like walking around with. Becareful though, if you have STACKS of items, it won't ask you how many do you want to get rid of, it will just delete them all.
2.5) Their weapons are glowing!! I WANT!!
It's not by random coincidence, their weapons glow. . Their's a couple reasons why that could be.
1.) They have Fused it with a weapon Decoration that can only be bought from the Item Mall (check section 5)
or 2.) Their's weapons you can get from the Newbie boxes (at Lv40) if you're lucky that have a Fiery Gem (attack+4) forged with them. When a Gem is forged into a weapon, it will make it glow a certain color. For Example, a Fiery Gem makes weapons glow red. To learn more about which gem's make weapons glow which color, read here
2.6) Is Evanescence Chest Worth it?
Evanescence Gear is what I would like to call a job's Mid-life stand point. Why do I call it that? Because Evanescence is indeed the best gear for a VERY long time. If you are dedicated to your job, then yes, you will need this set. The next set you get won't be till Enigma(Lv60), which is usually 3-5x the price of Evanescence Gear and unless you have a high income, then it will take a lot of time. Don't buy it, until you can endure the pain agonizing of Lv's 50-60, they become VERY hard to level up on, and gets even HARDER after 60.

2.7) Can I transfer my stuff from character to character?(This includes Ship Cargo)
The characters HAVE TO BE on the SAME server
You can't transfer between different servers.
This deserves a yes & no answer. You can't transfer your items easily, but you can transfer them through a long process.
Easy Way, ask a friend to help you, then switch characters.
Long way, make a second ID account for ToP (It's free, so you can do it), then you need to make a character for that account and put it where you want it (A non-laggy place is like Shaitan would be more helpful). After you finish that, close that ToP, make sure game.exe is gone from your proccess (CTRL+ALT+DEL), if it is, reopen ToP, but DO NOT log in, then open a second a ToP, and there you go, you can transfer from one to the other. But it will be VERY laggy with two open if you have less than 512MB Ram.
2.8) What are Reset Stat Books/Vials for?
They are as they say. They take away one of your stats you put into the specified stat, and give it back to you, to use for another stat.
Reset Books can be found using NSS/OSS or bought from other players for 200k-500k depending on server, maybe even more.
Reset Vials come from the Item Mall though.
2.9) What are wings for?
You may see people wandering around with wings on their back, and get all excited, but don't be. They're merely just style. They do NOT give you any bonus stats, or any special effects.
Only specific wings can be worn, don't be fooled into buying the others. Wings; Devil, Angel, Vampiric, Elven, Butterfly, Dragon. Wing's DO NOT stack, and have their own style. Be careful when buying them.

2.10) What do fairies do?
Those little glowing balls you see floating around people's heads, are usually fairies, they help the player in their adventures by increasing stats (AGI, STR, CON, SPR, ACC when they're fed), and by using their Passive ( means always on) skill books (up to three of the player's choice.)

2.11) Why aren't my Revival Clover's working?
Because, they don't work for your class unfortunately. . It's not explained on the item itself, but Revival Clover's are for Cleric's ONLY, when they use the spell Revive, it takes up one clover.
Section 3: Quest Related
3.1) How do you get Lifeskill points? and/or start story quest?
You get Lifeskill points by doing Story Quests, and you start Story Quests by talking to the newbie guide's. . Or if you want more detailed, please use this 5 page guide to get through it, located here.
3.2) Why can't I kill so-and-so boss for this quest??
That is because it's not meant to be killed solo, or you're level is too low in order to do so. Bossess, even though they may say Lv35 (and you're 35), you think you should be able to kill it, but you can't. Bossess have MUCH higher HP, Do MORE damage, and have a TOUGH defense. You would have to wait to being about 5 levels or more above the boss before trying to kill it again. Just level up some then go back for it.
Going after the boss is more fun in a team.
Section 4: Game/Tech Help Related
4.1) Everytime I use the radar in Icicle City, I go up the wrong way and hit the wall.
This is due to the fact, the radar system isn't automatic in Icicle. See, when you're in Argent, and use radar, it's automatically on "Ascaron", in Shaitan, it's automatically on "Magical Ocean", but when you're in Icicle, it's set on "Ascaron", and you NEED to change it to "Deep Blue" before hitting enter with your coordinates.
4.2) How do I talk to GM's? Why can't I find them ingame?
GM's are in-game, but they're not required to do anything, in most cases they will be 'afk (away from keyboard)' because the characters are left there in order to easily access them if need be.
In order to TALK to a GM, you need to go to the TOP main site and scroll down till you find the button that says "Click here for Live Support" if the status says "Online" which it usually does, you click on the link, enter your problem, and they'll deal with it as best they can.
If it says "Offline" you will not be able to talk to a GM and will have to wait until the status returns to "Online."
4.3) How do I fuse my stuff ?!
You need will need your choice of Fusion Apparel and a Fusion Scroll. If the item's have a Gem Forged into them, you will NEED a Fusion Catalyst as well.
4.4) Everyone is moving so fast and I'm moving so slow!!!!
This is what's known as lag, it's natural SERVER lag, which means it might not be your fault your lagging, but due to the fact their's A LOT of people on each server. Things around you tend to move faster than you see yourself do so. If you do feel this is a problem with YOU, you can try restarting your computer, restarting your router and/or modem, or scan your PC for spyware/adware that may be lagging your PC.
PC's UNDER 512MB Ram WILL lag even unwillingly on here, but you can play it with as low as 256MB ram safely.
4.5) Everytime I move to a new area, it takes SO LONG to load.
If you have been lagging for awhile, please check the post above, otherwise, it's every new area (not just Argent, Argent lags wether you do or don't), it might be because it's trying to load your music files. If you don't really listen to the music anyways, the easiest way to change this is go to where you saved your ToP folder, right click on your Music folder, hit "Change name" and name it anything else. If you want the music back, you change the folder name back to "Music."
OR for those who just want to get rid of it, delete the folder. If you ever feel the need to hear it again, you can do Version Check with you click your Tales of Pirates.exe , it will reinstall your 'missing files' for you.
4.6) Like OMG when's the reborn stuff coming out already ?!!!!!!!1111
This is just something you will have to be patient with. Their's no date for the release on this expansion, even if there is, it won't matter for ToP players. See, Reborn Patch is version 1.36 for Chinese players. . ToP English players are currently still in the stages of 1.33. We have quite awhile before we ever get to see Reborn.
4.7) Where is FORSAKEN CITY?!
You're between levels 30-45, have an Ancient Generator, and are looking to hunt down Forsaken City, huh? You NEED to have a ship docked in Shaitan Harbour, use coords Magical Ocean 1509, 3666. For more information on Forsaken City, please use this guide
4.8) What's wrong with my ship? The stats I'm supposed to have aren't right!
Never fear, your ship's not broken. When you buy the ship, it gives you the PRE-DETERMINED stats. . which is stats you will get later. When you level your ship, it will get most of it's stats at Lv20. It won't get it's speed until Lv30.
4.9) My character keeps going back to where I started, why?
This is another curse of lag, it can easily be solved by not clicking anything for awhile (could result in a long wait), or logging off, then back in. (Don't even need to log, just switch characters.)
4.10) How do I get my ship back from where I left it???
Unfortunately, their's no magical way to do this. . You have to go BACK to where you left your ship, and ride along the sea all the way to where you want to go. Where you DOCK your ship is where it STAYS.
If you don't feel like doing that and need a quick ship, you can always buy one of the cheaper one's as a temporary use.
Section 5: Item Mall Related
5.1) Where/What is the Item Mall?
The Item Mall is located on the official site, located here.
It is a place where you exchange REAL Money for points on special items that can't be easily bought in the game. Their's many ways to pay, but the prefered is Google checkout. They ARE trustworthy and do have good service.
5.2) I bought points but transaction didn't go through.
This could be due to multiple reasons, you have insufficient funds in your account, you entered the number's incorrectly, or their's been a problem with the transaction and you could try to contact either Live Support and/or your bank, or the people you did the transaction with.
5.3) Ahhhh So many sections, what's in all of them?!
Pet - This has all your fairies, Fairy Rations (used to level up your fairy), Skill books (used to give your fairies skills UP TO THREE), and the fruits that will let your fairy level at maxed Growth Rate.
Leveling - Items used in helping you level including stat boosters, double exp items, double drop rate items, stat reset (in order to delete a point from a specified stat, in order to use it for something else),
Forging - Here you can get all your equipment boosting items/gem's. . This does NOT include ALL Gem's, but if you're looking for a way start, this is the way to go. You can only get certain forging materials here (not found in-game)
Decoration - All your Fusion Apparel needs ! Clothes, weapons, even hats, wings to equip and your playful things such as fireworks, and hairstyle books.
Miscellaneous - A bunch of random things, such as better mining, woodcutting equipment, Angel, and Devil Wings packages, Mystic Clovers (used to get good lots on things), and items that can be used to increase your inventory slot for one character.
Teleportation - Speaks for itself, many different kinds of Teleportation Tickets to places in ToP, (not all places).
Promotion - This changes depending on the specials the Item Mall is having at the current time, keep checking up on it weekly to see if you find anything you like on sale!
Section 1: Character Related
1.1) What do I do with my character?! I just started! Please help me!
We have many guides for this, with many different set up's.
If this is your first time playing, I suggest you just try to enjoy it instead of taking it so seriously. If you're really trying to figure out what to do, please read the guides, then make a post of which IS NOT answered in any of the guides.

1.2) Where do I go to level?!

The third section of the post will refer you to "Monsters." When choosing your EXP monster's, keep in mind, you cannot get maximum EXP amount from monster's FOUR levels BELOW you, or NINE level's ABOVE you.
1.3) What's the black text next to people's names?
This is what people set just because they can. . It's a 'status' or random thing I suppose. . Click your ALT+F "Friends List" and on the bottom, their's a paper with pencil icon. . Click it, and it will bring up a box which will let you type something. You can't use spaces ! !
1.4) I have my weapons equipped, but I can't attack anything!
This is because, you don't really have weapons .. it's all part of your imagination. . . I kid, this is because you may have died a lot, and didn't realize it, but your gear is based on it's Durability, when you die, you lose Durability, for Weapons, when they hit 0 Durability, you won't attack, for armor's, You will lose their defense and bonus stats. To fix these is easy, just go to any Blacksmith located in Argent / Icicle / Shaitan city, click the "Repair" and use that pounding hammer to fix your gear.
1.5) Can I make my character so and so class?
Unfortunately, characters are limited to the jobs they can become
Lance - Crusader, Sharpshooter, Voyager
Carsise - Champion
Phyllis - Sharpshooter, Cleric, Voyager, Seal Master
Ami - Cleric, Voyager, Seal Master
Section 2: Item Related
2.1) Why can't I use my newbie box?!
The newbie box everyone has, works in stages.
Box 1: Lv5
Box2: Lv10 (Only can be used AFTER you obtain first class promotion.)
Box3: Lv15
Box4: Lv20
Box5: Lv25
Box6: Lv30
Box7: Lv35 (Many people have diffulculty with this, try to use this BETWEEN Lv's 35-40, when you complete your second promotion at Lv40, you WILL NOT be able to use it, and you'll have to delete it, wasting next advancement equipment)
Box8: Lv40 (This is your last and FINAL box, you will get on your character. It can only be used after you complete your second promotion, suggest you do it as soon as you receive the message you've been promoted.)
That is all for boxes, your game's not broken, your newbie box hasn't been stolen. It is time for you to learn the rest on your own.
2.2) How much does "insert name of item" sell for?
It really can't be answered by just anyone. Why? All servers run on what's called an 'economy'. . This is a price range specified to THAT server only.
In most cases item's will be easier just to sell to an NPC, but if you feel this item is worth something important to someone, use the forums specific server channel or Marketplace;
- Select your server, and feel free to post a sell/buy/trade or even a price check topic, and someone will be able to help you out there better.
If you don't feel like waiting, you can always use the World/Trade chat option on your game and someone can answer you there.
2.3) I found a glitched item from a Lv34 Berserk Boxeroo!
Is it really glitched ? Nah, but it is cool to look at. If it looks like a red boxing glove, but has a bunch of squiggly lines on it. It's simply an item that was not translated from the Chinese version to the English version. It's not an important item, you are free to sell it to an NPC unless you just want to keep it for a trophy item.
2.4) Why can't I get rid of this item?!
Their's many items in the game that after we pass a certain point, will not be able to drop, trade, sell, or feel we can't get rid of this thing at all, but do not fear. . Hit ALT+E to open your inventory, on the bottom right corner, you will see a little blue icon, this is your characters 'trashcan'. It will permanently get rid of any items you don't feel like walking around with. Becareful though, if you have STACKS of items, it won't ask you how many do you want to get rid of, it will just delete them all.
2.5) Their weapons are glowing!! I WANT!!
It's not by random coincidence, their weapons glow. . Their's a couple reasons why that could be.
1.) They have Fused it with a weapon Decoration that can only be bought from the Item Mall (check section 5)
or 2.) Their's weapons you can get from the Newbie boxes (at Lv40) if you're lucky that have a Fiery Gem (attack+4) forged with them. When a Gem is forged into a weapon, it will make it glow a certain color. For Example, a Fiery Gem makes weapons glow red. To learn more about which gem's make weapons glow which color, read here
2.6) Is Evanescence Chest Worth it?
Evanescence Gear is what I would like to call a job's Mid-life stand point. Why do I call it that? Because Evanescence is indeed the best gear for a VERY long time. If you are dedicated to your job, then yes, you will need this set. The next set you get won't be till Enigma(Lv60), which is usually 3-5x the price of Evanescence Gear and unless you have a high income, then it will take a lot of time. Don't buy it, until you can endure the pain agonizing of Lv's 50-60, they become VERY hard to level up on, and gets even HARDER after 60.

2.7) Can I transfer my stuff from character to character?(This includes Ship Cargo)
The characters HAVE TO BE on the SAME server
You can't transfer between different servers.
This deserves a yes & no answer. You can't transfer your items easily, but you can transfer them through a long process.
Easy Way, ask a friend to help you, then switch characters.
Long way, make a second ID account for ToP (It's free, so you can do it), then you need to make a character for that account and put it where you want it (A non-laggy place is like Shaitan would be more helpful). After you finish that, close that ToP, make sure game.exe is gone from your proccess (CTRL+ALT+DEL), if it is, reopen ToP, but DO NOT log in, then open a second a ToP, and there you go, you can transfer from one to the other. But it will be VERY laggy with two open if you have less than 512MB Ram.
2.8) What are Reset Stat Books/Vials for?
They are as they say. They take away one of your stats you put into the specified stat, and give it back to you, to use for another stat.
Reset Books can be found using NSS/OSS or bought from other players for 200k-500k depending on server, maybe even more.
Reset Vials come from the Item Mall though.
2.9) What are wings for?
You may see people wandering around with wings on their back, and get all excited, but don't be. They're merely just style. They do NOT give you any bonus stats, or any special effects.
Only specific wings can be worn, don't be fooled into buying the others. Wings; Devil, Angel, Vampiric, Elven, Butterfly, Dragon. Wing's DO NOT stack, and have their own style. Be careful when buying them.

2.10) What do fairies do?
Those little glowing balls you see floating around people's heads, are usually fairies, they help the player in their adventures by increasing stats (AGI, STR, CON, SPR, ACC when they're fed), and by using their Passive ( means always on) skill books (up to three of the player's choice.)

2.11) Why aren't my Revival Clover's working?
Because, they don't work for your class unfortunately. . It's not explained on the item itself, but Revival Clover's are for Cleric's ONLY, when they use the spell Revive, it takes up one clover.
Section 3: Quest Related
3.1) How do you get Lifeskill points? and/or start story quest?
You get Lifeskill points by doing Story Quests, and you start Story Quests by talking to the newbie guide's. . Or if you want more detailed, please use this 5 page guide to get through it, located here.
3.2) Why can't I kill so-and-so boss for this quest??
That is because it's not meant to be killed solo, or you're level is too low in order to do so. Bossess, even though they may say Lv35 (and you're 35), you think you should be able to kill it, but you can't. Bossess have MUCH higher HP, Do MORE damage, and have a TOUGH defense. You would have to wait to being about 5 levels or more above the boss before trying to kill it again. Just level up some then go back for it.
Going after the boss is more fun in a team.
Section 4: Game/Tech Help Related
4.1) Everytime I use the radar in Icicle City, I go up the wrong way and hit the wall.
This is due to the fact, the radar system isn't automatic in Icicle. See, when you're in Argent, and use radar, it's automatically on "Ascaron", in Shaitan, it's automatically on "Magical Ocean", but when you're in Icicle, it's set on "Ascaron", and you NEED to change it to "Deep Blue" before hitting enter with your coordinates.
4.2) How do I talk to GM's? Why can't I find them ingame?
GM's are in-game, but they're not required to do anything, in most cases they will be 'afk (away from keyboard)' because the characters are left there in order to easily access them if need be.
In order to TALK to a GM, you need to go to the TOP main site and scroll down till you find the button that says "Click here for Live Support" if the status says "Online" which it usually does, you click on the link, enter your problem, and they'll deal with it as best they can.
If it says "Offline" you will not be able to talk to a GM and will have to wait until the status returns to "Online."
4.3) How do I fuse my stuff ?!
You need will need your choice of Fusion Apparel and a Fusion Scroll. If the item's have a Gem Forged into them, you will NEED a Fusion Catalyst as well.
4.4) Everyone is moving so fast and I'm moving so slow!!!!
This is what's known as lag, it's natural SERVER lag, which means it might not be your fault your lagging, but due to the fact their's A LOT of people on each server. Things around you tend to move faster than you see yourself do so. If you do feel this is a problem with YOU, you can try restarting your computer, restarting your router and/or modem, or scan your PC for spyware/adware that may be lagging your PC.
